Oppo quietly launches Reno8 T and Reno8 T 5G.

Oppo released the midrangers Reno8 T and Reno8 T 5G without much fanfare. The devices were simply uploaded to the company’s Vietnamese website, and online retailers followed suit with their listings.

The LTE-only smartphone has a Mediatek chipset and a 100MP camera, while the 5G version has a Qualcomm chip and a 108MP main shooter.

The smartphone brings a 6.43” AMOLED with 90Hz refresh rate and FullHD+ resolution. It comes with 180Hz touch sampling rate and Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The 32MP selfie camera sits in the upper left corner inside a punch hole.

There are three more cameras on the back. Oppo doesn’t reveal the details of the 100MP main shooter, but if that’s its native resolution, it would be an industry first. The other two units are a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro cam. Surrounding the main camera is a ring light that can double as a customizable notification light.

On the inside, we have the Helio G99 chipset and a single memory option – 8/256 GB. There is a microSD slot for additional storage.

The Reno8 T comes with a 5,000mAh battery and SuperVOOC fast charging. The company didn’t say exactly what the rating is, so we assume it’s the lowest possible for this branding – 33W.

Other connectivity options include a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom, a USB-C port, Bluetooth 5.3, and support for all major GNSS. The operating system is ColorOS 13 which is based on Android 13.

The Reno8 T comes in two colors – basic Starlight Black and Leather Sunset Orange. The price is set at 8.49 million VND, which translates to $365. The phone is already up for sale at major online retailers in Vietnam.

The launch of this midranger is a bit worrisome as Vietnam is not expected to see widespread deployment of these networks for some time due to infrastructure limitations. However, the phone has a different chipset, better screen and even faster charging so it might still find its place.

The Reno8 T 5G is powered by Snapdragon 695 and comes with 8GB of RAM.

The 108MP main camera has AF and f/1.7 aperture and again has two 2MP sensors to keep it company – one for macro images, the other for depth data. The front-facing 32MP selfie camera is this time located in a centered punch hole.

The Reno8 T 5G is built around a 6.7” 10-bit OLED display of FullHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. It has 2.5D curved sides, and can reach a brightness of up to 950 nits, according to the official website.

The 4,800mAh battery again comes with SuperVOOC, but this time Oppo has revealed fast charging – it’s 67W with the required adapter provided in the retail box.

The Reno8 T 5G lacks a 3.5mm audio jack, but ships with the same ColorOS 13 out of the box.

Oppo Reno8 T 5G is available in Starlight Black and Dawn Gold. The device is up for pre-order for 9.9 million VND, which is about $430. Most Vietnamese stores will bundle the device with a Bluetooth speaker that also doubles as a nightstand light. Sales in the South Asian country will begin on February 10.
