Bullying is not something that you should take lightly. Some parents believe that this is just a phase that every child is expected to go through. What they do not understand is that this is a massive problem that can affect the child even until they become adults. The experience can be too much for some kids that this traumatizes them for life.

In one recent incident of bullying, this 11-year-old was so scared of his bullies that he ended up jumping out of the school bus window and onto the highway just to get away from them!

According to reports, the boy was being threatened and taunted by his bullies. His back was up against the wall. And while on a moving school bus, he probably felt that his only option was to jump out of the vehicle to getaway. And that’s exactly what he did.

The boy from Walton County, Georgia, leaped out of the bus and landed on the roof of a truck. Then he rolled out onto the highway. It was a risk that he was willing to take. Thankfully, he only suffered minor injuries – a concussion and a broken elbow.

The sheriff’s office shut down the intersection to investigate the incident while the paramedics were helping the child. Although it was a miracle that the boy was safe and sound after the life-and-death situation, for his father, this did not stop him from worrying.

According to Dion Murphy, he thought that his son had died.

He said, “Death. First thing I’m thinking when I hear you jumped out of a vehicle… I was concerned he’d got ran over or killed. My son could’ve lost his life.”

The school had been alerted. Unfortunately, the boy’s father believes that the school is not taking this incident seriously. He said, “There are more tapes and that’s why I’m so upset because the school neglected the bullying act and did not do anything about it. They took it as horseplay, but my son could have lost his life.”

Dion said that his son jumped because he felt he was completely out of options. He explained, “One student jumped in his face, he was pushing him against the window. When he fell, the other student took his shoe and in a desperate attempt to escape it, he jumped out the window.”

The Walton County School District released a statement saying that they are taking the incident seriously. In a district statement, it says: “Following a bus incident on May 5, a Walton County School District student sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The other students and driver on the bus were not injured.”

The statement added: “School and district officials are aware of the bullying allegations made in connection with this event. The Walton County School District does not tolerate bullying and harassment of any kind. The incident is being thoroughly investigated by school officials and any disciplinary issues that may arise will be handled appropriately at the school level.”

Dion said that his son is no longer enrolled at Young Middle School. The new environment will somehow help him forget what happened, and hopefully, avoid getting bullied any further.

What happened to this boy shows just how dangerous bullying can be. This situation could’ve ended up far worse.
